learnthai.app (“the app”) is a language-learning game run by Itai Bar Sinai, an independent developer (“we”). By using the app — and again, explicitly, when you sign in — you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app. Contact for anything, billing included: privacy@learnthai.app.

1 · Who may use it

You must be at least 13 years old — or older where your country sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services — to use the app or create an account. The app is not directed at children.

Buying a paid plan is a higher bar: you must be 18, or the age of majority where you live, or have a parent or guardian make the purchase. Our payment provider requires that, and so do we.

2 · Accounts

Signing in takes only an email address; a 6-digit code sent to it is the whole login. Whoever can read that inbox can enter the account, so keeping the inbox secure is on you, and activity under your session counts as yours. You can delete your account at any time from the bottom of ⚙️ Settings, which permanently erases it and everything synced to it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

3 · The service, and how it can change

The app runs on a free plan and two paid ones, set out in section 4. Most of what it does is metered by a daily allowance — cards and lessons dealt, questions to Kru — and those allowances are what a plan buys. We work on the app continuously and can modify or discontinue parts of it; nothing here obliges us to keep any particular feature running, and if we withdraw something you are paying for you can cancel, with section 4 saying what happens to the money. Your progress remains yours to delete or leave at any time.

4 · Plans, payment and refunds

What the plans are. Free costs nothing and stays that way: 10 cards or lessons a day, and one question to Kru. Plus is $4.99 a month for 40 cards or lessons a day and 5 questions, and Pro is $9.99 a month for unlimited cards and 20 questions — ₪14.99 and ₪29.99 respectively if you are billed in Israel. Every plan carries the whole deck — all the words, phrases, lessons and both voices — so what a plan buys is how much you play in a day, never which content you can reach. Allowances reset daily. Which currency you are charged in follows where you are, not which page you arrived from, so an Israeli reading the English page still pays in shekels.

Who you pay. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Your receipt comes from Paddle. Paddle's own refund policy is the baseline for anything bought through them; the 30-day guarantee below is ours, it is more generous than that baseline, and we honour it.

Renewals. A paid plan renews every month at the price you signed up at, automatically, until you cancel it. If that price ever changes, we tell you before a renewal charges the new one, and you can cancel first.

Cancelling. Cancel whenever you like. The plan keeps working to the end of the month you already paid for, and nothing renews after that. Cancelling is not deleting your account — your progress stays exactly where it is and the free allowance takes over.

Refunds: 30 days on your first payment. The refund promise has a page of its own so it is easy to find and to link to: learnthai.app/refunds. In short — ask within 30 days of your first payment and you get it back in full, whatever the reason; after that, cancelling before a charge is what prevents it, though a renewal you plainly did not mean to make is still refunded. None of it replaces the consumer rights where you live.

5 · Fair use

Don’t abuse the app or the people behind it. In particular, don’t:

probe, overload, or work around rate limits, quotas, or authentication;
scrape, bulk-download, or republish the app’s content outside the licenses in section 8;
use Kru or the feedback form to submit unlawful content, to harass, or to attempt to make the AI produce content unrelated to learning languages;
misrepresent who you are when signing in or filing reports.

6 · What you send us

Questions to Kru and feedback reports are yours, but you give us the right to use them to operate, debug, and improve the app. Don’t include personal details about yourself or anyone else — a report about a wrong translation never needs them.

7 · AI answers and content accuracy

Kru is an AI teacher, built on Anthropic’s Claude models, and its answers are machine-generated: usually helpful, sometimes wrong, occasionally confidently wrong. The deck itself — translations, romanizations, audio, example sentences — is produced by a pipeline that mixes dictionaries, synthesized speech, and machine judgment, checked but not infallible. Treat all of it as a study aid, not an authority: verify anything that matters, and expect no guarantee of learning outcomes. It is not professional advice of any kind.

Kru answers in words, and only in words. Nothing in the app generates images, speech, video or likenesses on a learner’s behalf: what you type here comes back as an explanation about Thai and nothing else.

8 · Content and licenses

Dictionary data comes from Wiktionary via kaikki.org, under CC BY-SA. The card dataset the app serves is a derivative of it and is likewise available under CC BY-SA 4.0 (attribution: Wiktionary contributors, kaikki.org, learnthai.app).
Photos are from Pexels and Pixabay under their respective licenses, credited per image. A few card illustrations we generated with AI ourselves; there is no image generator inside the app.
Audio is synthesized speech that we generated ahead of time for the app’s own words, phrases and lessons, using the providers’ licensed stock voices (Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and ElevenLabs) — not clones of any identifiable person. The app records nothing and synthesizes nothing on demand.
Fonts (Sarabun, Noto Sans Thai) are used under the SIL Open Font License.
Everything else — the app’s code, design, lessons, and curated content — we wrote ourselves, and it is © the developer. Nothing here is a third party’s course being resold, and the app awards no certification. You may use the app for personal study; you may not resell or redistribute it.

9 · No warranties

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability — to the maximum extent the law allows.

10 · Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or US $20. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or the mandatory consumer rights of the place you live.

11 · Termination

You can stop using the app, or delete your account, at any time. We can suspend or terminate access that violates these terms or harms the service; sections 6–10 survive termination.

12 · Changes to these terms

When these terms change, this page changes, with a new effective date; material changes will be flagged in the app. Using the app after a change takes effect means you accept it.

13 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and disputes belong to the competent courts in Israel — except where the law of your country of residence mandatorily gives you the right to something else.
